Worldwide Mail

It’s fun to see how different (or similar) the stamps are between different countries. Needless to say Germany & Azerbaijan probably take the lead for the most kitty stamps (although Moldova is up there too). We expected to find lions & tigers & other big cats on more stamps, but to our surprise domestic cat seems to be a popular subject.

Celebrating the art of cats on a global scale, even better this art can be sent (or received) anywhere in the world too.

And So It Ends…

This is the sad end of our stamp collection, although we promise to keep our eyes out for them every time we visit the mailbox. Be sure to check out part 1 & part 2 while you’re here!

Cats in the Mail

Although we’d love to get some of these stamps in the mail, we’d be loathe to use them. The artwork is fantastic and it’s interesting to see how each country represents their cat fancies. Interestingly enough, there are a larger % of animal stamps from Germany overall, but Moldova & Azerbaijan come in right on it’s tails.

Some of the art is serious, some of it whimsical, but all of it uses our feline friends as subjects.

More Cat Art

We’ve been delving pretty deeply into the cat art of the world & the more unique the better. Be sure to check out part 1 and some other fantastic felines in art as well.

Theory Proven

As we started looking were were excited to see that there is a great variety of crests that use cats as symbols. And we aren’t even talking about lions & tigers, these all feature domesticated cats…kitty cats.

For such small animals, most of these little cats look pretty tough & we are guessing that they were symbolic of hunting & tracking prowess.

Not A Big Haul

We found many more (& a much wider variety) of cat stamps than we did heraldry, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t more out there & we’ll keep collecting them to share in the future. For now why not check out some more cats in art.

Yours For The Taking

We love the public domain, as it allows us to bring you a level of high quality cat you can’t get anywhere else. We hunted long and hard to track these line drawings down so you better color a few of them & make them your own.

Out of Ideas

Make Them Your Own

Today we are featuring the smaller and medium sized cats (including the domestic kind & one strange lion creature) like the bobcat, lynx & serval. There are several sizes of each and they are just begging to be colored in & we say loose tradition, drawings don’t need camouflage…get colorful! If you like the big cats best, don’t worry we’ve got more than just tigers for you to color in.

Inspired?

Our fingers are itching to find some colored markers or crayons (they are never handy when you need them). Be sure to check out the tigers and stay tuned for more large cats in the weeks to come.

Majestic Cat

The stamps below are a good representation of cats as seen by countries around the world. It seems that some countries (like Germany) are far more prone to putting animals on their postage but we got as wide a collection as we could.

It seems that animals are popular stamp subjects and cats seem to embody some nameless quality that people admire around the globe.

Mail Anything Lately?

These make us want to start our own kitty stamp collection, except eventually we’d probably just break down and use them when we ran out of stamps. If you like these, you may also enjoy cats in art (Pt. 2 & Pt. 3).

Love Those Artists

Lucky for us, there are those out there who can capture cats they way they should be and they have created a great variety of line drawings of our feline friends. We’ll be sharing them all with you in the weeks to come, but today it’s all about our favorite…the tigers.

More Art On The Way

Welcome to the final edition of our cats in art collection, were we find cool old cat art to share with you. If you haven’t seen them already, be sure to check out part 1 and part 2.

We’ve been moving on to art of some of the bigger cats and so far we’ve also posted a lion or two (or three). The artists & images we present to you come from all over the globe & span many cultures. It’s interesting to see how similarly (& tenderly) the cat is almost always portrayed.

Although we love the majesty of the big cats, there is just something about our beloved domestic kitty cat.

Cat of A Different Color

Now that we’ve visited the lions and domestic cats, we’re off to the jungles to find us some tiger art. Until then be sure to check out part 1 & part 2 of our cat art collection.

It’s official, artists love lions. We managed to find art from all over the globe depicting the strong and sultry cattiness of the king of the jungle.

It’s not just about lions, we’ve been doing a lot of art appreciating lately and have more to share. If you haven’t already, be sure to check out the first two parts in the series, Lion Art Pt. 1 & Pt. 2.

Just The Beginning

We started with domestic cat art and worked our way through lions, but we have a lot more cat art to share.

It’s not hard to imagine why artists are drawn to subjects like lions. There is something quite regal about them and their slightly sneering nonchalance makes them seem larger than life.

We’ve visited lions in art before and we are going to do it again.

There is a surprising amount of art out there depicting these felines and it’s all varied enough to be worth a look.

Loving Lions
